NICEIC arranged for a surveyor to attend my home, yet when he arrived he stated he did not know why he had been sent and that nobody had briefed him on what he was expected to assess. A further surveyor, appointed via the installer, attended and was immediately defensive of the installer rather than approaching the situation independently.

In contrast, I independently engaged a published Professor specialising in heritage buildings, who carried out multiple visits and was deeply concerned at the condition of my home. He subsequently produced a report to an expert-witness standard.

Over the summer, the ongoing failure to take responsibility resulted in repeated visits by surveyors and contractors — at one point approximately ten professionals attended for what was described as an educational visit. This process left me feeling that my home had become an ‘ECO4 theme park’ — repeatedly inspected and discussed, yet with no decisive action taken to protect me, restore my home, or ensure compliance
